A
lot of excellent musicians know how to interpret music. Some
even know how to sing. Those who know how to use their instrument
to communicate and portray essential concepts are, however, rare.
Marielle Nordmann is one of those.
Born in France, Marielle Nordmann started playing the piano
at the age of 6. At the age of 10 she met the legendary harpist,
Lily
Laskine, an event that determined her choice of instrument
and her career.
She
is in life as she is on Patrice
Fontanarosa's stage, with whom
she has three children, all musicians.
As
an internationally recognised and admired soloist she has played
with the most talented musicians:
L.
Laskine, J.P Rampal,
F.R Duchable, Y. Baschmet... and in the following orchestras:
English Chamber Orchestra, Mozarteum de Salzbourg, Solisti Veneti,
Franz Liszt Budapest, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Solistes
de Moscou, Philarmonic Helsinki, Orquestra Colon Buenos Aires...
under the baton of great conductors such as: A. Jordan, M. Corboz,
Y. Menuhin, M. Janowski, T. Guschelbauer, J. Neschling, L. Hager,
A. Lombard...
In
parallel to her brilliant career as an international soloist,
Marielle Nordmann has, for several years, produced musical shows
in which she likes to combine different art disciplines (mime,
dance, comedy), and also plays the role of soloist: "La Musique
et l'enfant" (Music and children), "La harpe vous connaissez?"(What
do you know about the harp?), "La Harpe Apprivoisée"
(The tamed harp) and the musical tale with masks and tap-dancing,
"Tempéraments de feu" (Fiery Temperaments)
(2005).
She
also believes in "music for all, wherever this may be
possible"
(hospitals, prisons...) Her credo is: Music must, above all,
be a source of life and emotions. Her music activity covers
as
much original works as transcriptions (often composed by herself)
and contemporary works:
J. Charpentier, J. Francaix, G. Finzi, E Denisov, M. Landowski,
E. Rautavaara, L. Petitgirard, P. Hersant
The
richness of her personality, her generosity and her human warmth
make her a great lady of her time. The strength and fullness
of her tone, supported by an exceptional musicality and great
accuracy of phrasing, place her in the privileged ranks of great
performers. The international reviews acclaim her as one of the
greatest harpists of the moment.
